  Call the credit card co immediately and see what the problem is.

  Your merchant agreement provides information on what to do with these cards. If you can’t find your agreement call your credit card processor and ask.

  Talk to a manager.
  If it’s a mistake and you take that persons credit card – they can sue you for everything the store has.
  A wife could have easily cancelled the credit card by mistake or there could be a problem with the card.
