Is it illegal to refuse service to someone for no reason & not allowing to use credit card if machine present?
3 CommentsQuestion by Ash148: Is it illegal to refuse service to someone for no reason & not allowing to use credit card if machine present?
I went in to a store to purchase something, there was a sign which said transactions over $ 20 can be charged with a card. My total was over $ 20. The owner refused to let me use my card. I asked why, “he said you are not allowed to use your credit card”. I said well, there is no sign up stating that. He answered, “I don’t have to put any signs up” and kicked me out of the store and did not let me purchase anything. Is this not illegal???? I would like to file a complaint but not sure how to go about this… any suggestions out there?????????Best answer:

If he doesn’t want your money, then shop elsewhere.Know better? Leave your own answer in the comments!

you must have missed the sign that reads, ‘we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone’…

Well, you could walk back and forth in front of the store with a picket sign stating your grievance. You can publicize your grievance in other ways such as word of mouth, letter to the editor of your local paper, etc. Just make sure whatever you say is true in order to avoid a lawsuit. Other’n that I’m afraid you’re out of luck.
