Are you going to only process credit cards online or also have a retail location? Leasing a credit card machine would involve a monthly fee plus the usual 2-3% transaction fees for processing your credit cards. The company you deal with will want to know how many transactions you are expecting to do on a daily or weekly basis and how large the average ticket wil be. Obviously a business with high volume is able to negotiate a lower rate.Give your answer to this question below!

Question by JazzOnSasquatch: Our salon has a credit card machine. Owner wants to charge us per client + 5% of our tips. Is this normal?
We have a credit card machine at our grooming salon. We work on straight commission and tips. There is no hourly wage. We earn a percentage of each dog that we groom. There is a tip line available on the credit card slip if clients feel that they want to leave a gratuity. Most of our customers do leave tips. The salon owner says that the machine and the tip line is costing her hundreds a month so she wants to have us give her $ 1 per client plus 5% of our tips. Is this normal at other pet grooming or human grooming salons? I know you can’t give me an exact amount because it varies on the type of business, volume etc., but generally how much does the tip line cost and what is the average cost for a credit card machine per month?Best answer:
Answer by timothy p
Credit card companies charge the owner of the service a fee for every transaction. On the plus side you may potentially get more business because a lot of people carry cards instead of cash. On the down side you have to pay all of the fees associated with accepting credit cards.Give your answer to this question below!

Can you describe the correct use of the credit card imprint machine and authorization modem?

Answer by steve g
The first is the old fashion system from years ago. The proprietor of the facility took an imprint from your card, and daily took it to the bank or sent to the credit card company and got credited a week or so later. The authorization modem does it instantly.

Question by tumberi: connect a credit card machine to computer with internet?
Hi,I’m in a problem. Because of the severe weather, the phone lines in our area is completely dead. And my business has a credit card machine that works through a phone line. I contacted Verizon and says because of the systematic problem, it’ll take upto two days to get it fixed. But we need to get the credit card machine working since the weekend, big sale days, coming. So I was wondering since my Android phone has internet through 3G and I can tether that to my laptop which in turn has a modem. Is it possible for me to connect the credit card machine to the laptop through the phone line and make it work? Is there a special program that I need to use? Our credit card machine is verifone 3730 LE

Answer by Mursaydees
nononononononononoIt could be possible to technically get it working, but if you’re using a cell phone to connect to the internet and using that to transmit credit card info, you’re putting each and every one of your customers’ information and identity at risk. The encryption on cell phones isn’t very good and if a hacker were to get a hold of it, you could be liable to the credit card companies for the lost money when some crook uses the card numbers, because you made them available on an unsecured line.

Question by Curious man: Is it possible to use a credit card machine by VPN?
I live in Brazil and here there are a lot of card machines in the commerce, but all the machines work by phone line. But I knew that is possible to save money using a VPN instead of a phone line.

Depends, could you elaborate more on your situation? In most cases, yes you will be able to setup your credit card reader to report back though your network by a VPN connection. You need to keep in mind that not all machines may be able to do this, so it really depends on which on you own.
