  I would see if there was a way to work with pay pal… if they had a way to call over the phone to confirm… you wouldn’t have to use a machine.

  These credit processing companies rip off small business.

  Do your homework before picking one… and don’t get into any contracts…. if you can help it.

  Watch the fees and percentages…
  be wary of machine leases.

  I’m using paypal; since I have no monthly fees and I got charged if I sell. Contrary to the other ones.

  DO NOTgo to the bank! Banks are not the source of credit card processing. Most of them use an outside credit card processing company and mark up there costs as a middle man.

  You need to find a processor who has more than just one program. You need somone who has different programs depending on how (phone, internet, in person) you accept cards and who (individual or business) you accept them from.

  Processors who have different options will also desing the best pricing structure for your business.

  Do not use pay pal. Read up on them.
  According to PayPal accepting their ToS (Terms of Service) in effect means you waive your rights to credit card consumer protection laws if you want to use their service, and that you may not issue a chargeback for unauthorized use of your credit card and PayPal account, or if you do, then they have the right to limit your account. Is this legal? We don’t know. But it’s how Paypal operates.

  Get your equipment and sofware free. Do not lease. Don’t buy either. Look at discount rates , transaction fees, don’t use a third party, use a direct processing company, they are cheaper than banks.Shop take your time, ask questions. Make sure you have 24 hour help. And you are paid in 24 hours also!
